The Indiana Seaplane Pilots Association presents the 2023 Seaplane Splash-In. Come to the Potawatomi Inn Lawn to view seaplanes flying and landing on the shore in this one-of-a-kind special event! Participants can also enter their names in a drawing to win a ride in a plane.

Splash In Schedule of Events
Schedule of Events for Saturday
- Arrivals throughout the day
- 11:00-4:00 Poker Run
- Check in with Splash-In HQ at State Park for Poker Run packet and map
- Spot landing contest at Pleasant Lake (Poker Run stop)
- 6:00-??? Barbeque and bonfire
- Award ceremony for Poker Run & Spot Landing winners
Schedule of Events for Sunday
- 8 AM throughout the day, aircraft arrival and registration
- 10:30 assemble for 3 rounds of seaplane ride drawings, to be completed by 12:00
- 12:00 Lunch break for Pilots
- 12:30 The Guest Aircraft will prepare for a demo flight
- 1:00-1:30 after demo 3 more rounds of drawings for seaplane rides to be completed by 2-2:30
- 2:00-4:00 Aircraft Departures
- 3:00-4:00 disassemble Amphibian ramp, clean up

Camping is available on the Strebig property as always and the grass strip is also open but please contact Randy Strebig for briefing on the use of the strip if you haven’t been into it before.

A Special Invitation to Seaplane Pilots From ISPA's President
We invite you to join us at the annual Pokagon State Park Indiana Seaplane Fly-In.
Every year, we host an annual “Splash-In” at the Pokagon State Park on Lake James. It is a great opportunity for seaplane pilots to showcase your aircraft and operational skills.
Even more important, it is a chance for the general public to get to see and experience the fun and excitement of seaplane flying up close.
We partner with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for this even, and our thanks go to all of the great folks at IDNR who help to make this event and seaplane flying across the state available to all.

Pilots: Important Reminder
NOTICE: Attendance and participation in the Splash-In is at the pilot’s own risk.
- Please be careful, considerate, and ABOVE ALL safe in your operations.
- We are continually working to demonstrate that seaplanes are compatible users of Indiana lakes, in order to open more waters to seaplane access.
- Download and read all materials.
- Be familiar with operations including communications, and ramping as well for amphibians.
- DO NOT approach the ramp without approval from ground personnel.
- DO NOT start your aircraft if you are on the lawn parking area without checking with a volunteer and getting traffic and crowd assistance.

ISPA thanks the State of Indiana’s Department of Natural Resources and Department of Transportation for their cooperation in opening Lake James and a number of other Indiana lakes to seaplanes.
Thanks to ISPA’s efforts, Lake James has been designated a PUBLIC Seaplane Base. As a result, it is NO LONGER NECESSARY to get private permission in advance to attend this event.
Getting There By Air
To Find Lake James
- Fly direct to Angola airport (KANQ) in the far northeast corner of Indiana, then
- Fly out runway 05.
- You will overfly some water but keep your eyes out for an island with a house on it, then
- Look 30 degrees to the north and you will see a large inn with a red roof; that is Potowatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park.
Or just dialing 01E (Zero One Echo) into your GPS and it will bring you right to Lake James.
